"Theatre is like a mirror, a sharp reflection of society."     It's not just about portraying something amazing in front of the audience, but it is also about showing the people a mirror of the real world and how we, the youth of this nation, can bring about a change. Following these ideas, KALAKAAR- dramatics club of NIT Jalandhar, prepared a street play on the topic 'SEX EDUCATION'. The street play was performed in various colleges including NIT Jaipur, PU Hoshiarpur, and NIT Jala ndhar and many more. The main motive behind the NUKKAD was to create awareness about the importance of sex education among the people. Being a citizen-“Duty prevails”.     BAWRE Theatre the official dramatics club of NITJ was chosen from the best dramatics club of various colleges spread across Jalandhar by MINISTRY OF HUMAN RESOURCE AND DEVELOPMENT (M.H.R.D) to spread awareness about the importance of cleanliness through our honorable Prime Minister's "Swachh Bharat Mission". So the very next day (i.e today) team BAWRE geared up for Jalandhar City Railway Station. They say, "Every drop counts."  Students of NITJ have lived up to the proverb.      An initiative started by Harshvardhan Mishra in coordination with The Gulmohar Foundation, Kerala was to collect Sanitary pads for women of Kerala, took a leap when Kavita Kumawat from CSE third year volunteered to support the campaign.  People came along and gave their contribution in every possible way.      Nistha Gupta from ICE 3rd year and Praveen Kumar from IPE final year took responsibility of raising awareness about the campaign from class to class and reaching out to people by addressing the issues being faced by women and girls in Kerala.      Animesh from IPE 3rd year also related to the issue and helped in strategic planning and promotion. It’s midnight, and you’re hungry.  You haven’t saved up any food, and nobody has any food.  What does an NITJ student do at this point?  Order from the “Night Food Court” ofcourse!  It is one of the latest services being provided by the creators of Food Pixel.  In light of this development, we have decided to interview the creators of Food Pixel to get to know them, and the thought process behind their ideas better: Food Pixel was created around 9nd March, 2018 by two students of NITJ.  Ghansham from Chemical Department (Final year), and Shubham from Biotech (Final year).  The interview went something like this:  Correspondent: Can you describe exactly what you are doing? #Farewell'18 These are to be the last few days of college for our seniors.  These last few days are bound to be extremely emotional, thrilling, and moving for our seniors, and we hope they can leave college, and start a brave new journey into the real world, with a bang.  The official schedule for the farewell parties are out, and everyone is looking forward to them.  The official notice can be seen below:

"Be the character, Hold the situation, Find a solution". Model United Nations, as an initiative to improve diplomacy, negotiation, critical thinking, compromise, reaction time, public speaking, writing, and research among students, proved to be highly beneficial.   There were two rounds, first being the group discussion in which 20 students were shortlisted and divided into 10 countries.  The second and the final round which w as the main conference itself had the following agenda,"Terrorism and its facets".  It was a transformative experience in which all the participants engaged in serious, intense, and inspiring debate.  After 3 hours of diplomacy, the delegates who emerged as winners were Dhruv Miglani, Akshay Sethi.  With  Utsav Jain, Bhanu Pratap coming in as runners-up.  We congratulate Dhruv and Akshay on their win and hope this can further inspire more students to participate in this exciting event. 

The alumni interaction program was a post-lunch session organized as a part of ReUnite’18. Keeping in line with the tradition of past meets the session saw various alumni get together for an informal meet with students representing the various clubs and societies operating within the institute. This was followed by a faculty-alumni meet mainly to commemorate the achievements of the 1989-93 batch. The highlight of the alumni meet was the silver jubilee of 89-93 batch, which incidentally was the first batch of engineers produced by this august institute. The meet witnessed maximum participation from the alumni of this batch who came in huge numbers to attend the event. The student interaction began with a presentation by Prayaas society, who highlighted the efforts taken by the students and faculty to provide a decent education to the underprivileged students of the area.
